Koya-san

After leaving Nara we caught the train to Koya-san, a remote village in the mountains that is famous for it's Temples.
It was our opportunity to stay in a "Shukubo" (Temple Lodgings) with a load of Buddhist Monks.
The 1st photo is of Shivani sitting on the window ledge of our room in the Temple.
2nd is the outer gate of the Temple we stayed in called Eko-in.
3rd is of the local cemetary called Oku-no-in, which is famous for being the largest in all Japan with any Buddhist worth his salt, having had their remains placed here. It is best seen by night, when all the lanterns are lit and lead the way for the 30 minute walk to the main Temple at the end. Shivani insisted on humming(badly) Thriller the whole hour it took to get there and back!
The last photo is of Andrew practising his Hong Kong Fuey moves in his yukata.

Part of the deal with staying at this Temple was that you had to get up for 6.30am morning service.
