Japanese Bath & Bed

Okay.........
We just wanted to quickly explain the process for having a bath in a Shukubo.
1st you go to your respective bathroom for Men or Ladies.
2nd you get undressed and place your things in the baskets provided.
3rd you take a shower and wash thoroughly.
4th you get into the bath and soak for as long as you can stand the heat. The water never gets cold as its thermally heated from underneath.
5th you get out and have another shower.
6th you get out and dry yourself, with the tiniest towels in the world(flannel size), luckily there were lots of them.
7th you collect your things from the basket and go back to your room, where your futon bed has been lovingly laid out for you.

Oh, did we mention that you're doing all the above, apart from 7 with lots of other Men/Women at the same time!!
This did stretch our comfort zones a little bit, as you all know; we are both shy, retiring types!

The bathing situation is similar in a ryokan, although you can lock the bathroom door and have it all to yourself.

Does this mean that ' technically' I (Jas here!) could share the exeprience with 6 women? ;-) Loving the photos and stories guys - Japan looks like a great place to visit. I heard it is real expensive to play golf there and that they sleep in little tiny pods. Can you confirm / deny these rumours please? Thanks x
