Hida-no-sato

We took a morning trip out to Hida-no-sato; a folk village that had been created from real houses that existed in different areas of Hida, but had been brought together to preserve them in a small village complex.
The caterpillars are actually silk worms (real live ones!) and were part of a display to show how the people used to make their own clothing.

We rang the bell in the photo and made a wish, which is the tradition. Can't tell you what it was, in case it then doesn't come true.

We also got to feed the carp - they were more like gannets!!
