We left Nha Trang and headed for Dalat by Bus. Dalat is a city up in the mountains some 1500m above sea level, so we were expecting some cooler weather and no mosquitos. We did not expect our bus to keep stopping for the engine to cool down, as it did the mountain climb. We kept telling our selves that this is all part of the "Travelling Experience", but it did not make the supposed 5 hour journey, which ended up being an 8 hour journey, go any faster.
Dalat itself, as we mentioned earlier is a mountain resort, which tries very hard to be like a Swiss Mountain resort, but fails. Still it did have it's own unique charm and was very different to anywhere wlse we'd been in Vietnam. The pace was slow and the air was cool, which helped when we decided one morning to go for a stroll around the 7km lake, stopping for a Tea at The Dalat Palace Hotel, where we took a few of the photos you see.
We went for a lovelly horsecarriage ride around the lake at dusk, when the city really starts to come alive.
Due to the bus arriving so late we only really had one day in Dalat before we had to get going to Saigon for the last part of our trip in Vietnam. We decided to forego the bus and fly to Saigon, can't think why?!
