Hoi An

We arrived in Hoi An by bus from Hue, which wasn't too bad. We could not believe what a contrast Hoi An was to pretty much everywhere else we'd been so far in Vietnam. No cars or motorbikes are allowed in the City centre, which makes the whole place feel more relaxed. Lots of trendy bars and restuarants over look the river and the buildings are so beautiful, particularly as you just stumbe across a temple or shrine whilst walking around. The city was one of the few that was never bombed during the Amercan War, which is why they have been able to preserve the original buildings. By night the town is lit up with the most amazing lantern shops and the whole riverside is a buzz with activity.
We decided to take the opportunity in Hoi An to relax for a couple of days. Our hotel was lovely and the courtyard at the entrance is shown; it's the one with the yellow building in the photo.

The photo of Shivani was taken in a cafe called "Brother's Cafe" not to be confused with "Brother's Kebab House" back home. You had to walk through a well kept garden, over a bridge to take a seat by the riverside.

Also, if you enlarge the photo of what looks like a temple, you should just be able to make out kids playing football in the temple grounds.
Hoi An is famous for it's tailoring industry. Apparently there are over 600 tailors in Hoi An, so we took the opportunity to have some clothes tailored for us. The best bit was that it cost less than you could buy it for in Primark! Keep an eye out for the new tailored clothes we will be modelling in forthcoming blog posts.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in Hoi An and slowing down the pace for a while.
